ISHTAR GATE FOREIGN MINISTRY REVENUES
A Rough Guide to recognising Ishtar Gate stamp issues
The Ishtar Gate {read up on Babylon for further info} stamps were first issued in 1983 for use by the Foreign Ministry.
The first issues were in 1983.
Size 23.5 X 29 mm and look roughly square.

Values 50f, 100f, 200f, ½D, 1D, 5D, 10D.
The second issues appeared in 1988
Size 21 X 32. Perforations 11 X 12.
Values ½D, 1D, 5D, 10D.

The third issue was made in 1990

The 3 line surcharges with asterisks obliterating the old values and/or the inscription in the top panel come in a variety of overprints, many of which are frequently found misplaced and/or misaligned and are often offered as "errors" by some sellers. 2000 - 2002 AIRPORT DEPARTURE TAX
In defiance of UN sanctions and "no fly" zones Iraqi Airways operated a passenger service between Baghdad and Basra.
The stamps shown below were affixed to either boarding passes or flight tickets.
The few passenger tickets I have obtained have 2 X 250D stamps, and boarding passes have 2 X 500D stamps or a single 1000D stamp
